November 18, 1940 - June 2, 2015

Barbara Ann (DiRocco) McGill was born in Philadelphia, PA on November 18, 1940 to Nicholas and Rita (Devita) DiRocco and spent her youth in her beloved Italian neighborhood surrounded by friends and family before settling in Manoa in the Philadelphia suburbs in a custom home built by her father and grandfather, attending Haverford High School.

After graduation, Barbara attended Westchester State Teacher's College for two years before seeking adventure as a flight attendant for United Airlines. While based in Chicago, Barbara met her husband of 52 years, Jim, when introduced by their roommates. Married two years later in Philadelphia on September 29, 1962, Barbara and Jim settled in the Chicago area, starting their family with son Jim and daughter Barbie before moving to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1968.

In 1970 Barbara was the first of the family to come to a deep faith in Christ, with the rest of her family soon joining her. Barbara and Jim's faith and life journey brought them to several destinations after moving from Moraga in 1982, first to Scotts Valley, CA working with Bethany Bible College, then to San Ramon and Chesapeake, VA with the Christian Broadcast Network/700 Club, followed by 4 years on staff in Oakhurst at Mountain Christian Center and then 4 years on staff at Family Fellowship Church in Oceanside in 2001, near family and grandchildren. For the past 8 years, they taught a bible study in Laguna Vista.

Besides their son and daughter, Barbara and husband Jim were blessed with five grandchildren: Rylie and Kelsey Miltenberger (Barb and Gil) and Paige, Ryan and Drew McGill (Jim and Susan).

Barbara has left a lasting legacy with hundreds upon hundreds of people who she touched with her inspiring love, compassion and thoughtfulness, always modeling her faith in the most inspiring way. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and countless people after her passing last week.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at the Laguna Vista Clubhouse at 276 N. El Camino Real in Oceanside at 11 a.m. on Tuesday June 16 and is open to all.
